SHSM Arts & Culture

The SHSM program is a practical and effective way to provide students with skills and Arts and Culture Sector training that will assist in the transition of students from secondary school to apprenticeship training, college, university or the workplace. The Arts and Culture Sector is a growing and rewarding career area and includes fields of work such as Magazine Illustrator, Video Game Developer, Graphic Designer, Cartoonist, Architect and Interior Designer.

              Components of the Arts & Culture SHSM

                    Grade 11 and 12 Bundle of Credits (8 credits) 

                    ➤ 4 Major Credits related to the Arts and Culture Sector 
                    ➤ 2 Other Credits from the Ontario Curriculum 
                    ➤ 2 Cooperative Education Credits 

                           Seven Sector-Recognized 
                Certifications and Awareness Training 

                    THREE COMPULSORY 
                    WHMIS 
                    ➤Standard First Aid Training 
                    CPR – Level C with AED

                    THREE OPTIONAL SELECTED FROM THE FOLLOWING:
                     Lighting and sound equipment maintenance
                    ➤ Training in an art form or technique
                    ➤ Software animation
                    ➤ Software photography
                    ➤ Fall protection
                    ➤ Technical staging
